When I first accepted Christ, I experienced a great spiritual high. Forgiveness came, condemnation lifted. My life seemed like it was sunshine and rainbows and it was for a time. Gods presence flooded me and peace was flowing like a river. Although my circumstances in life were not different, I was! I had undeniably met Jesus.
It wasn't long after I'd made this commitment to Christ, that life came at me with both barrels. In the grand scheme of things (whatever the heck that is) my life is good, 'richly blessed' as any good Christian would say, but I am not always so good and my grand scheme often feels more like an evil plot.
Saying I struggle with depression could be a gross understatement. So how do I live with this darkness and follow Christs' light? How do I reckon in myself the scriptural truths against how I am feeling each day? How and where do I find His promised joy as this thorn of depression presses in.
Through sharing my story of Gods redemption in my own life, I have experienced great freedoms from old bondages that no longer have any power or presence in my life. That is part of why I created this blog. To share my journey, to expose the enemys lies to the Light of Gods truth. To help someone else. To interact with you because we don't need to walk alone. Trouble shared is trouble halved.
With that, I invite you along as the reckoning goes down between Gods promises and my very real earthly struggles with depression and whatever else may come up. I encourage you to share your story and thoughts, struggles and victories with me.
I promise to be real and authentic, which means it will most likely get ugly.
